A sweet little cottage in the quaint village location od Sleights, this attractive abode sleeps up to 4 guests and offers a great base for those wanting to enjoy both countryside and seaside attractions. Located just 4 miles from the famous Yorkshire coastal resort, Whitby, and within easy reach of a pub and village shop, Lavender Cottage offers all you’d need to enjoy a well-catered for break. You’re just 4 miles from historic Sandsend and the popular seaside town of Whitby. The River Esk flows just below Sleights and is known for its abundance of wild salmon which can be seen leaping from the river. Fishing permits can be obtained for anyone wishing to catch their dinner!

The property itself has been finished to a high standard and offers the perfect mix of traditional features meets modern comfort. On the ground floor sits a lounge/diner with dramatic beamed ceilings and Victorian cast iron, working fireplace. The kitchen, also beamed, is bright and spacious and offers all you need to enjoy a self-catered stay. Upstairs are two bedrooms: a comfortable double and a cosy twin room. The spacious bathroom features a freestanding roll top bath and also has a separate shower.

Outside there’s an enclosed, cottage style front garden with bench, table and chairs and parking for two cars on the driveway.

The cottage is very clean and tidy. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed (we even cooked a Sunday roast). Although it's quite cosy there was still enough space for 2 adults and 2 young children. The location was perfect for us as we had planned to explore the coast and more inland North Yorkshire. Communication with the owner was brilRead moreliant and very helpful. There's a shop and a fish and chips within walking distance plus the fish and chips place does pizzas on a Monday. The cottage was in an ideal location with Whitby only a 10-15 minute drive and Scarborough roughly 30 minutes away. We had a lovely stay in the cottage and the welcome pack was a lovely touch from the owners. A bus into Whitby runs past the cottage if you don't fancy driving. Robin Hoods Bay isn't too far away and Staithes within easy reach.Read more Goathland were Heartbeat was filmed is worth a visit. We're looking forward to visiting the area again and Sleights is a brilliant location for visiting the surrounding areas. Hide

We enjoyed our holiday here for many reasons. The cottage had everything we needed and more . Being able to shut the main gates from the road was a bonus , there was two pubs doing food in walking distance, also there is a spar supermarket open all day until 10pm and an amazing higher class butchers with home baked products ( we used a lot ) . TheRead more cottage itself had the biggest T.V we've seen in a rental property which is a bonus . It was clean and had a homely feel . The owner had detailed everything in a welcome pack so we knew where to find and work things . Lots of walks and the added knowledge from Rosemary ( the owner) where to free park was an amazing plus . Nothing but praise Hide

We stayed at lavender cottage in Aug 2022 and found it a wonderful holiday cottage. It was extremely homely and very well equipped and clean . There us a gated drive we're we could leave our car safely away from the road . There's 2 pubs in easy walking distance and so is a small supermarket which is open until 10pm . There's a butchers and a homemRead moreade bakery and a fish and chip shop / restaurant also in easy walking distance. We definitely recommend this cottage Hide

The cottage was fantastic. We had a lovely bottle of wine and some local bakery items waiting for us which was such a nice welcome. Would absolutely book again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to family and friends
